Arkansas CDL requirements

If you get a ticket in Arkansas

To obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) or commercial learner's permit (CLP) in Arkansas, drivers must be at least 18 years of age, must have a current Arkansas driver's license, and must pass required knowledge and skills tests according to the type of vehicle they will be driving.

Any driver seeking to obtain a CDL must first apply for a CLP and drive with a properly endorsed CDL holder, who is physically present in the front seat of the vehicle, for at least 14 days. The CLP holder is not eligible to take the CDL skills test until the 14-day period is complete. For detailed information on self-certifying and all of the requirements for obtaining a license or permit, see the Arkansas CDL requirements page.
