Wyoming CDL Information
Drivers in the state of Wyoming who wish to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) are required to meet state as well as Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. In general, drivers who are required to have a CDL include: those who wish to drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, or is designed to carry 16 or more passengers, or will be transporting hazardous materials. There are three types of commercial vehicle classes. To ensure you apply for the right type of license, you will need to know which class the vehicle you wish to drive falls under:
Class A CDL includes any vehicle that has a GVWR of more than 26,001 pounds and is towing a unit that weights 10,001 pounds or greater.
Class B CDL includes any vehicle that has a GVWR of more than 26,001 pounds.
Class C CDL includes any vehicle designed to carry 16 or more people, including the driver, or any vehicle that transports hazardous materials as defined in W.S. 31-7-102(a)(xxiii)
