Diesel Prices Rise
While oil prices continue to drop, a steady rise in diesel prices might be a bit troubling for trucking companies.
Diesel fuel prices in the U.S. increased 17 cents per gallon over the last month, a bump that experts attribute to tightening diesel supplies and heightened production of home heating oil. Although diesel saw a slight drop this week, the price has risen in five of the nine regions monitored by the Energy Information Administration.
Particularly hard-hit is the upper Midwest, where a diesel shortage has impacted truckers. Industry folks in Nebraska say the situation is as bad as they’ve ever seen.
